Mumbai, March 3 (NationPress) The elite of Indian cue sports, featuring heavyweights such as the 27-time IBSF World Champion Pankaj Advani, will headline the prestigious CCI Snooker Classic 2026, commencing at the renowned Wilson Jones Billiards Hall of the Cricket Club of India on March 6.
Advani, the current National and Asian snooker champion, has dominated the last three editions of this premier snooker event in Western India. Other notable participants including Ishpreet Singh, Aditya Mehta, Kamal Chawla, Faisal Khan, and Brijesh Damani are also poised to compete.
The tournament will kick off with qualifying rounds structured in three stages. The top sixteen from the final stage will face off against the sixteen seeded players in the fourth stage, which is the main knockout phase.
With a total prize pool of ₹13.5 lakh, the event promises fierce competition throughout the initial three rounds. The knockout stage is expected to deliver thrilling contests for dominance, with the champion set to receive ₹3.5 lakh and the runner-up ₹1.75 lakh.
The finale is scheduled for March 22.
In last year's competition, Advani made an impressive comeback, displaying his grit and determination, ultimately defeating Ishpreet Singh Chadha 8-6 in a tightly contested final for the ₹13.5 lakh all-India snooker tournament. Advani's journey included scores of 15-57, 26-101, 18-75, 100-25, 36-93, 118-0, 59-68, 45-77, 64-47, 93-72, 70-60, 75-32, 73-32, and 75-47 across three intense sessions.
For his remarkable performance, Advani was awarded the champions’ trophy along with a cheque for ₹3.5 lakh, while Ishpreet received the runner-up trophy and ₹1.75 lakh.
