Mumbai, March 10 (NationPress) In a stunning display of resilience and determination, reigning National and Asian snooker champion Pankaj Advani achieved a remarkable hat-trick of titles with a comeback victory of 8-6 against Ishpreet Singh Chadha in the CCI Snooker Classic 2025.
Advani secured the win with scores of 15-57, 26-101, 18-75, 100-25, 36-93, 118-0, 59-68, 45-77, 64-47, 93-72, 70-60, 75-32, 73-32, 75-47 in a challenging final that unfolded over three intense sessions at the CCI’s Wilson Jones billiards hall late on Sunday night.
For his outstanding performance, Advani was awarded the champions’ trophy along with a cheque of Rs 3.5 lakh, while Ishpreet received the runner-up trophy and Rs 1.75 lakh.
The Bengaluru-based Advani has clearly found his rhythm at the CCI snooker room, marking his third consecutive title victory. Notably, the multiple-time World Champion faced a daunting challenge, trailing 2-6 against Ishpreet in the best-of-15 frames match.
Beyond his impressive potting skills, Advani's technical prowess, especially in safety play, shone as he executed a masterclass in snooker.
Advani's dominance over Ishpreet is underscored by his repeat victory from last year's NSCI ‘Baulkline 3.0’ event.
Ishpreet began the match strongly, establishing breaks of 101 and 61 to clinch the first three frames. Advani responded with a break of 55 to win the fourth frame and halt Ishpreet's momentum. However, Ishpreet quickly regained control, extending his lead to 6-2. At this point, he appeared poised to close out the match.
From that moment on, Advani did not drop another frame, ultimately adding another trophy to his impressive collection.
“When two skilled players compete in a high-stakes final, it certainly brings out the best in each other. I started slowly and thought the match was his to lose after being 4-1 and 6-2 up. But I just kept my composure,” Advani remarked.
“Sometimes, you have to persist, and I’m thrilled to have turned it around and taken it away from him (Ishpreet), who made a 147 and likely played the best snooker of the tournament,” he added.
“Ishpreet undoubtedly played a superior game in the first half, but I improved my performance in the second. I may not have made big breaks, but steady play proved effective,” he concluded.
