London, July 8 (NationPress) World number four Italian tennis player Jasmine Paolini has officially parted ways with her coach Marc Lopez just days following her exit in the second round of Wimbledon.

Paolini, who made history last year as the first Italian woman in the Open era to compete in the Wimbledon final, faced a tough defeat last week, losing 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 to Russian player Kamilla Rakhimova.

In her Instagram story, she expressed her gratitude: “I want to say thank you to Marc Lopez for his help and support this season. We had some great results together, especially in Rome and Paris. I appreciate all the hard work and energy Marc gave every day.”

Paolini continued, “With this part of the season concluded, I’ve decided to make a change. I’ve learned a lot and made good progress. Now, I will reflect on what my next steps will be. Thank you again, Marc, for everything.”

Her collaboration with Lopez, a former member of Rafael Nadal’s coaching team, began in April after she ended a decade-long partnership with coach Renzo Furlan.

Under Lopez's mentorship, Paolini celebrated her second WTA 1000 title at the Italian Open and secured the women’s doubles championship at the French Open.

In May, she became the first Italian woman to win the Rome title on home turf in the Open Era, defeating Coco Gauff in straight sets—a milestone not achieved by an Italian woman since Raffaella Reggi in 1985.

Last season was remarkable for Paolini, who reached consecutive finals at Roland Garros and Wimbledon and captured her inaugural WTA 1000 title in Dubai.

Additionally, she won the Olympic gold medal in women’s doubles, led Italy to triumph in the Billie Jean King Cup, and qualified for her first WTA Finals.
