New Delhi, March 26 (NationPress) Former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan has revealed his chosen playing eleven for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), set to kick off on March 28.

After finishing in seventh place last season, LSG has revamped their squad significantly for IPL 2026. They have bolstered their bowling attack, which struggled in IPL 2025, by acquiring Mohammad Shami and Arjun Tendulkar via trades, alongside signing Wanindu Hasaranga and Anrich Nortje during the auction.

While there were suggestions that captain Rishabh Pant could open the batting, Pathan advocated for keeping the successful opening pair of Aiden Markram and Mitchell Marsh, who excelled last year.

Pathan believes that Pant is ideally suited for the No. 3 position, allowing him to evaluate the pitch conditions before his innings and stabilize the team if an opener gets out early.

He has positioned Nicholas Pooran at No. 4, expressing concerns about his recent form. The lineup includes the Indian lower-order batsmen: Ayush Badoni, Himmat Singh, Shahbaz Ahmed, and Abdul Samad.

"Markram and Marsh are vital since they are both overseas openers. Therefore, I hope Lucknow can prepare some good seaming wickets at home to help them perform better. A refreshed Rishabh Pant at No. 3 is critical; Nicholas Pooran has struggled lately but enjoys playing for Lucknow," Pathan stated on his YouTube channel.

"Ayush Badoni has been on the rise, having received an Indian call-up. With Abdul Samad, Himmat Singh, and Shahbaz Ahmed in the middle order, you might also consider M Siddharth if you feel seven batters suffice," he added.

The 2007 T20 World Cup champion has included Mohammad Shami and Avesh Khan as pace bowlers, with Digvesh Rathi as the spinner. Ahmad and Badoni could also lend support to the bowling department.

Pathan has outlined five potential impact players: Mayank Yadav, Anrich Nortje, Mohsin Khan, Naman Tiwari, and Prince Yadav.
