Mumbai, April 17 (NationPress) Punjab Kings' bowling coach Sairaj Bahutule praised Prabhsimran Singh for his outstanding batting performances, asserting that the wicketkeeper-batter has played a crucial role in the team's ability to score runs consistently over recent seasons.

In a thrilling chase of a target set at 196, PBKS successfully achieved 198/3 in a swift 16.3 overs, maintaining their unbeaten streak and climbing to the top of the points table with nine points from five matches.

Continuing his impressive form, Prabhsimran anchored the innings with an unbeaten 80 runs off just 39 balls, marking his second consecutive half-century. Bahutule commended the 25-year-old's influence and reliability. Alongside him, captain Shreyas Iyer contributed with a steady fifty, skillfully guiding the innings.

“Prabhsimran is an exceptional talent. His consistency at the top and adaptability to match situations have been vital for us, allowing for strong starts. He has been a significant factor in our consistent run-scoring in the past couple of years,” Bahutule stated.

He also acknowledged head coach Ricky Ponting for creating a positive atmosphere within the team, which has enabled players to flourish.

“Much of our success is attributed to Ricky’s presence in the dressing room. His positivity resonates throughout the squad, and players like Shreyas and Prabhsimran have thrived under his guidance. Ricky and Shreyas together form a fantastic duo for the franchise,” he added.

Meanwhile, Iyer showcased his skills both with the bat and in the field, executing a remarkable catch that captured attention. Bahutule expressed his admiration without reservation.

“That catch is among the best I’ve ever witnessed and will stand out in IPL history. Shreyas is a remarkable presence in the dressing room—a game-changer with the bat and an outstanding leader. His hard work across all facets of his game enables him to counter any strategies bowlers employ,” he said.

On the bowling front, Arshdeep delivered a match-winning performance, securing three wickets while maintaining an impressive economy rate of 5.5. Bahutule praised the pacer’s execution and discipline.

“He consistently bowled the right lines and lengths with both the new and old ball. His ability to generate swing at Wankhede, where others struggled, was particularly noteworthy. This reflects his technique, pace, and adherence to fundamentals,” Bahutule remarked.

Looking ahead, PBKS is set to face the Lucknow Super Giants on April 19 at the New International Cricket Stadium in New Chandigarh, aiming to extend their winning streak in the tournament.
