Port Louis, April 13 (NationPress) Phoenix Hyderabad took a commanding lead in the team competition at the IGPL Invitational 2026 in Mauritius, hosted by the renowned Leander Paes at the picturesque Anahita Golf Course.

Phoenix thrived thanks to Sachin Baisoya, who delivered an exceptional performance, marking his inaugural victory at the IGPL. The 30-year-old golfer recorded scores of 67-71-67 across three days, propelling his team to the top spot, outshining Mumbai’s Atri and RVR Delhi.

Baisoya also clinched the individual stroke play title, with young Veer Ganapathy of GolfKonnect Bangalore securing the second position, while his team finished ninth overall.

Phoenix concluded the three-day event at 14-under, narrowly edging out Atri, who finished at 13-under, and RVR Delhi, which recorded a total of 12-under.

In terms of points, Phoenix amassed 100, Atri garnered 90, and RVR collected 80. The points accrued during the IGPL Invitational will be aggregated by the end of the season to crown the team champions. Each IGPL event features a team component.

The lineup for Phoenix included Baisoya, Raghav Chugh, Ranjit Singh, and Arjun Bhati. Atri's team featured Olympian Udayan Mane, the skilled Aman Raj, Aadil Bedi, and Tushar Pannu. RVR Delhi's roster consisted of Shiv Kapur, Chiragh Kumar, Aryan Roopa Anand, and Gaurav Ghei.

In the team format, the two highest scores from each team were utilized to compute the overall team score. Baisoya played a pivotal role for Phoenix, supported effectively by Raghav Chugh, who consistently ranked as the second-best performer throughout the event.

For Atri, Aman stood out as the key player, with daily scores complemented by Udayan's contributions. RVR's strength lay in the collective efforts of all four players. On the opening day, Aryan, Roopa Anand, and Shiv Kapur recorded scores, while the second day saw contributions from Aryan and Gaurav Ghei. On the final day, scores came from Kapur and Chiragh Kumar.

This event marks the inaugural inclusion of a team competition within a stroke play format, with 40 players being selected by various teams during an auction earlier this month.
