Visakhapatnam, March 30 (NationPress) Following the triumph of Delhi Capitals over Sunrisers Hyderabad by seven wickets, which propelled them to the second position in the IPL 2025 points table, wicketkeeper-batter Abishek Porel expressed that Sunday’s win was a result of a remarkable team effort where everyone contributed.

At the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium on Sunday, the veteran left-arm pacer Mitchell Starc delivered an outstanding performance, claiming 5 wickets for 35 runs to aid DC in bowling out SRH for 163 runs in 18.4 overs. He received excellent support from Kuldeep Yadav and Mohit Sharma, who took 3 wickets for 22 runs and 1 wicket for 25 runs, respectively.

During the chase, DC’s vice-captain Faf du Plessis showcased his talent by smashing three fours and three sixes in a brisk 27-ball half-century at a strike rate of 185.19. He was well-supported by Jake Fraser-McGurk (38 runs), KL Rahul (15 runs), Porel (34 not out), and Tristan Stubbs (21 not out) as DC successfully completed the chase with four overs remaining, concluding their Visakhapatnam stint with two victories out of two.

“It was a great team effort and everyone made contributions. Starc bowled exceptionally well and then Faf batted brilliantly. He has been doing a remarkable job for us. Jake Fraser-McGurk took his time but paced his innings effectively, and later, Tristan Stubbs made a significant contribution leading us to victory,” Porel mentioned in the post-match press conference.

Porel also shared his thoughts on playing under Axar Patel, who is leading DC in his inaugural season as their full-time captain. “Off the field, Axar is quite humorous and on the field, he is a highly motivated individual. He has been steering the team exceptionally well. Overall, his captaincy has been very commendable,” he added.

When asked about his discussions with fellow wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul, who played his first match for the franchise, Porel conveyed, “KL Rahul has always been like an elder brother to me. He actually consoled me when I dropped a catch and encouraged me to focus on my batting and play my strokes. He truly supported me.”

Delhi Capitals are set to face the five-time champions, the Chennai Super Kings led by Ruturaj Gaikwad, at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on April 5.
