Ayrshire (Scotland) July 23 (NationPress) Mysuru golfer Pranavi Urs is set to return to competitive play this week at the US $2 million ISPS Handa Women’s Scottish Open hosted at Dundonald Links, following a significant hiatus due to an injury she sustained in May.
Joining her in the tournament are fellow Indian players Diksha Dagar and Tvesa Malik, while rookies Avani Prashanth and Hitaashee Bakshi missed the cut.
Pranavi, the 2022 Hero Women’s Order of Merit champion in India with five victories in one season, had an impressive run as the leading Indian on the Ladies European Tour in 2024. This season, she secured a Top-15 finish at both the Ford NSW Open in Australia and the Investec SA Women’s Open. Although she made the cut at Aramco Korea, a wrist injury forced her to withdraw after the first round at the Dutch Ladies Open. Since then, she has not competed and currently ranks 81st on the Order of Merit.
Diksha has been enjoying a productive season, kicking off with a runner-up finish at the Lalla Meryem Cup, along with four Top-10 finishes and two additional Top-15 finishes, placing her 13th on the Money List.
Pranavi Urs will be paired with Kim Metraux from Switzerland and Fatima Fernandez Cano from Spain in the morning session, while Diksha Dagar will tee off in the afternoon with Miranda Wang of China and Sei Young Kim from Korea.
Tvesa Malik will compete alongside Weiwei Zhang from China and Dorthea Forbrigd from Norway.
This year marks the ninth edition of the Women’s Scottish Open at Dundonald Links, which has been co-sanctioned with the LPGA Tour and is hosting for the fourth consecutive year.
A total of 144 players from 32 countries will participate in this 72-hole stroke play event, where only the top 65 players and ties will advance after the first 36 holes.
Newcomer Lottie Woad, who recently turned professional after earning her LPGA Tour card via the LPGA Elite Amateur Pathway (LEAP), will also make her debut. The former world number one amateur clinched a six-stroke victory at the KPMG Women’s Irish Open earlier this month.
At the Amundi Evian Championship, Woad's stellar performance continued with rounds of 68-69-70-64, securing a T3 finish in this year's fourth major.
Hannah Darling from Scotland, who represented Team Europe at the 2019 PING Junior Solheim Cup, is also set to make her professional debut this week.
