Premier League: Manchester City's Troubles Continue with 1-2 Loss at Villa Park

Birmingham, Dec 21 (NationPress) Aston Villa achieved a hard-fought 2-1 triumph over Manchester City in an exhilarating Premier League match at Villa Park. Goals from Jhon Duran and Morgan Rogers secured the victory, leaving City frustrated as their recent challenges persisted.

Villa began the match with intensity, forcing City goalkeeper Stefan Ortega to make two remarkable saves within the first minute, denying both Jhon Duran and Pau Torres. The hosts broke the deadlock in the 16th minute when Duran scored his 12th goal of the season, thanks to a perfectly timed pass from Youri Tielemans, allowing Duran to finish with precision from 12 yards.

A brilliant attack from City, initiated by a stunning run from Gvardiol in the 43rd minute, nearly resulted in a goal, but his header went over the bar as he attempted to convert Grealish's inviting cross while Martinez was caught out of position.

City made a tactical change at halftime, bringing on Kyle Walker for John Stones. Villa extended their lead in the 66th minute when Morgan Rogers found space in the box and delivered a left-footed shot following impressive build-up play. A former graduate of the Manchester City Academy, Rogers demonstrated his attacking skill throughout the match.

City pressed for a comeback, with Foden testing Martinez again. In the dying moments of injury time, Foden's determination paid off as he found the net from close range, marking his first Premier League goal this season.

Despite a late rally, City was unable to secure the equalizer as Villa remained resolute, clinching all three points. This result sees Villa ascend to fifth place in the Premier League standings, surpassing City, who have now fallen to sixth as they continue to struggle with their recent form.
