Jamshedpur, Nov 9 (NationPress) Pukhraj Singh Gill celebrated a remarkable achievement in professional golf after clinching victory at the IGPL Invitational held in Jamshedpur. He was thrilled to accept his winner’s cheque from Arjun Munda, the former Chief Minister of Jharkhand.
Pukhraj triumphed by a staggering nine shots, marking the largest winning margin in IGPL history. He feels this win will motivate him to pursue further successes. Following this victory, Pukhraj ascended to second place in the IGPL Order of Merit, accumulating Rs. 48,81,832, which is less than Rs. 12 lakhs behind the leading player, Aman Raj.
His performance also earned him a position in the final stage of the Asian Tour’s Qualifying School, as the top four players on the IGPL Order of Merit gain qualification. Pukhraj expressed, “This can help me get to the Asian Tour.” The top player will also secure entry into the International Series early next year and will qualify for one of the Open Qualifying Series Tournaments next year.
Uttam Singh Mundy, CEO of IGPL, commented, “The IGPL is committed to providing ample incentives for players, with more initiatives planned to ensure top-notch facilities for these talented individuals.”
He remarked, “Kapil and Pukhraj have both achieved their maiden professional titles recently, and young talents Kartik Singh and Veer Ganapathy are making significant strides.”
Key contenders for the OOM include Aman Raj, Pukhraj, Kartik Singh Bhullar, Sachin Baisoya, Kapil Kumar, and Veer Ganapathy. To date, seven players have surpassed Rs. 30 lakhs in earnings over the first six events.
So far, four players have claimed victories in the six IGPL events held. Bhullar (Chandigarh and Jaypee Greens) and Aman Raj (Pune and Kolkata) each have two wins, while Kapil Kumar (Pune) and Pukhraj (Jamshedpur) each have one win.
Harendra Gupta from Chandigarh led his trio of amateur teammates to a commendable victory in the Pro-Am event, joined by Nishant Jha, Harsh Kumar Pandey, and Vinayak Siddhi.
Tusshar Pannu’s team, featuring Deepak Sahay, Aarav Wadhera, and Raman Jha, finished in second place, while the third spot was claimed by Samarth Dwivedi’s team, which included Ms. Punam Doshi, Dheer Dutta, and Nitin Khosla.
Pukhraj, the tournament champion, played alongside chief guest Arjun Munda, with participants including Rupesh Katriar and Prashant Maurya.
The upcoming IGPL Tour event is scheduled to take place in Mumbai starting November 20.
