New Delhi, May 20 (NationPress) Following their triumphant victory over the Rajasthan Royals that secured a playoff berth, the Punjab Kings are set to receive a significant enhancement with the addition of the overseas quartet comprising Marcus Stoinis, Josh Inglis, Aaron Hardie, and Kyle Jamieson on Tuesday.
All four players are available for immediate selection, kicking off with PBKS's upcoming match in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 against the Delhi Capitals on May 24. This addition comes as the team aims for a top-two finish after securing playoff qualification for the first time since IPL 2014, as reported by ESPNcricinfo.
Jamieson was the first to arrive on Tuesday, as announced by the franchise on their social media platforms. The New Zealand fast bowler, who joined as a replacement for the injured Lockie Ferguson, is yet to make his debut for the franchise.
Stoinis and Inglis have had limited chances with PBKS this season, as the team has been experimenting with its overseas lineup in search of a more stable middle order. Nevertheless, PBKS has had a successful season, primarily driven by their top-order and bowling performances.
Stoinis has accumulated 82 runs across seven innings at a strike rate of 167.34, while Inglis has scored 92 runs in six innings at a strike rate of 139.39.
The seam-bowling all-rounder from Western Australia, Aaron Hardie, who was purchased for Rs 1.25 crore during the auction, is yet to participate this season. However, he, along with others, could play a vital role in the playoffs, especially once Marco Jansen leaves for the World Test Championship (WTC) final at the conclusion of the league stage.
Other overseas players in the PBKS lineup include Azmatullah Omarzai, Xavier Bartlett, and Mitch Owen. After their match against DC on Saturday, PBKS will face the Mumbai Indians on May 26.
