New Delhi, May 15 (NationPress) The Australian pair of seam-bowling all-rounder Marcus Stoinis and wicketkeeper-batter Josh Inglis are anticipated to join Punjab Kings (PBKS) for their IPL 2025 encounter against Delhi Capitals (DC), scheduled for May 24 in Jaipur, as reported by sources to IANS on Thursday.
According to IANS, players including Marco Jansen, Xavier Bartlett, Azmatullah Omarzai, and Mitchell Owen have confirmed their participation with PBKS for the remainder of IPL 2025, commencing May 17.
“Jansen, Bartlett, Omarzai, and Owen are likely to arrive at the PBKS camp in Jaipur tomorrow. Stoinis and Inglis are expected to join from the second match onward, which is against DC. The availability of Aaron Hardie remains uncertain,” a source familiar with the situation disclosed to IANS anonymously.
Both Inglis and Jansen have been selected for their respective national squads for the World Test Championship (WTC) final, which kicks off at Lord's on June 11. It is still unclear how long they will be available for PBKS during IPL 2025, which concludes on June 3.
The IPL 2025 season faced a suspension on May 9, following the cancellation of the PBKS-DC match at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala, after just 10.1 overs due to safety concerns arising from air and drone strikes in nearby regions like Jammu, Udhampur, and Pathankot.
However, after a ceasefire announcement between India and Pakistan on May 10, the league was allowed to resume. Although all overseas players for PBKS returned home after traveling from Dharamshala to New Delhi, head coach Ricky Ponting and assistant coaches Brad Haddin and James Hopes remained in India to support the franchise as they regrouped in Jaipur on Tuesday.
According to the revised schedule, PBKS will play their remaining three IPL 2025 league matches against Rajasthan Royals (RR), DC, and Mumbai Indians (MI) on May 18, 24, and 26 respectively, at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. PBKS, under the leadership of Shreyas Iyer, currently holds the third position on the points table with 15 points from 11 games.
