Liverpool, Feb 17 (NationPress) Jarell Quansah commended Liverpool's resilience and fighting spirit after their 2-1 triumph over Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday.

Arne Slot's team faced a tough challenge to secure an additional three points in the Premier League at Anfield after establishing a two-goal lead in the first half.

Quansah, who came on as a substitute at the start of the second half against Wolves, shared his thoughts in a post-match interview with Liverpoolfc.com.

“It was a real battle. They gave it everything they had, and it's the type of game where you need to demonstrate your mental strength. It might not always be pretty, but grinding out the scrappy wins is rewarding when you secure the three points,” Quansah remarked.

Luis Diaz's goal and a penalty converted by Mohamed Salah had the Reds firmly in command by halftime. However, when Matheus Cunha scored in the 67th minute, Liverpool had to display a different aspect of their game, defending tenaciously to clinch the victory.

“Exactly. To win the Premier League, you must have an array of skills. We can play beautifully and execute our game plan, but we also need to show we can handle the tougher aspects. As we approach the season’s end, we must be prepared to exhibit this capability consistently,” he added.

This match marked the first time since 2003-04 that the Reds went an entire half without taking a shot at Anfield, while Wolves' goal made for a tense finish. However, Slot was pleased to see his team prove they could achieve victory through various methods.

“Wolves improved as the match progressed, while we lost our grip. We needed to display a different mentality, which we did, and we managed to secure the win,” Slot stated.

“Throughout this season, we have enjoyed many excellent performances, but to win trophies, it’s essential to conquer the challenging matches as well, even when we’re not at our best,” Slot expressed to BBC Match of the Day.
