Bengaluru, Feb 1 (NationPress) The dynamic Ghanaian forward Rahama Jafaru propelled Nita FA to a thrilling 2-1 comeback victory against Kickstart FC during the Indian Women’s League 2024-25 clash at the Bangalore Football Stadium on Saturday.

Jafaru’s impressive second-half brace turned around Dangmei Grace's opening goal for Kickstart FC, elevating the Ghanaian striker to the position of second-highest scorer in the league with a total of four goals.

This triumph marked a return to winning form for Nita FA after enduring a tough stretch with two consecutive losses prior to this encounter. The victory has brought them level on points with Sethu FC and Odisha Women, each with seven points. This win also stands as their second of the season, complemented by one draw and two defeats.

On the other hand, Kickstart FC faced yet another frustrating outcome. This latest defeat contributed to their ongoing struggles, placing them in seventh position in the league with just two points from five matches, including three losses.

The first half showcased Kickstart FC's greater cohesion and control, led by captain Dalima Chhibber and supported by players like Dangmei Grace, Karishma Shirvoikar, and Abigail Sakyiwaa. Their teamwork dominated midfield play and strategically crafted offensive maneuvers.

Kickstart FC’s breakthrough occurred just before the halftime whistle. Sakyiwaa skillfully assisted Grace, who confidently finished the chance, putting Kickstart ahead 1-0 with a well-placed shot past Nita FA’s goalkeeper Manisa Panna.

However, the second half saw a rejuvenated Nita FA, who quickly equalized shortly after the break. Jafaru showcased her poaching prowess by outmaneuvering several Kickstart defenders to score in the 46th minute.

Kickstart FC pushed hard to regain their lead, with Sakyiwaa and Shirvoikar coming close to scoring, but their efforts were thwarted by Panna.

Jafaru wasn't finished yet. In the 80th minute, she took advantage of a defensive lapse from Kickstart during a free-kick. Left unmarked, Jafaru executed an impressive volley to complete her brace and put Nita FA ahead. In the final moments, Nita FA’s defense held firm, securing a vital victory.
