Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Vadodara, Jan 30 (NationPress) Royal Challengers Bengaluru's standout all-rounder Nadine De Klerk expressed that the impressive eight-wicket victory against UP Warriorz, which followed two consecutive defeats, will significantly uplift the team's spirit ahead of the Women's Premier League 2026 (WPL) final, scheduled for February 5 at the BCA stadium.
The South African all-rounder recorded a remarkable four-wicket haul, concluding with remarkable figures of 4-22. With this performance, she ascended to the top of the leaderboard as the purple cap holder of the season, amassing a total of 15 wickets. Following the match, she praised Grace Harris, the player of the match, for securing two crucial wickets after a prolonged absence from the bowling attack.
"I had a good laugh on the boundary when I saw a warm-up. And it's great to have so many options. Obviously, as involved as the whole tournament is, coming on and picking up two for 20 is a pretty good effort. Obviously, we were a bit under pressure being 70 for 9 after 6 or 7 overs," De Klerk mentioned in a video shared by WPL.
"So, I think the bowlers have done really well to pull that back. And as Ray said, really throw that first punch and get back to winning ways. I think it's really important to have momentum going into a final."
De Klerk commended the team's bowling capabilities and the various options available, which played a pivotal role in RCB's advancement to the WPL finals.
"So, it's great to get back to winning ways; it's wonderful to contribute as well. As I said, I think we've been really good; our bowling unit has been exceptional throughout this tournament. So, it's just fantastic to be able to contribute. Making finals is something new for me. Anyway, it'll be good," she added.
Smriti Mandhana's squad concluded the group stage with six victories in eight matches and consistently held the top position on the points table throughout the season.
