Soham Varshneya has signed a contract extension with Bengaluru FC, committing his future to the club through the 2028-29 Indian Super League season. The 22-year-old midfielder, who featured eight times for the Blues during the 2025-26 ISL campaign, described himself as 'happy, focused, and ready to give everything' for the club.

Bengaluru FC confirmed the deal on Friday, 24 August, securing one of their most promising young midfielders for the medium term. Varshneya joined the club's Reserve Team ahead of the 2024-25 campaign and has since worked his way into the senior setup — a trajectory the club is clearly keen to protect.

In his debut senior season, he contributed one assist across eight appearances in the ISL. His first top-flight outing came against Mumbai City FC at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium on the final matchday of the 2025 league stage.

A Standout Reserve Campaign

Before breaking into the first team, Varshneya was a dominant force at reserve level. In the 2024-25 season, he scored 14 goals and provided 12 assists in 24 appearances across competitions — numbers that earned him the BFC 'B' Team Player of the Year award. The reserve side finished fourth in the BDFA Super Division and reached the Zonal Round of the Reliance Foundation Development League (RFDL).

He earned a call-up to the India U-23 setup and made his national-team debut during the AFC U-23 Asian Cup qualifiers in Qatar in September 2025.
