New Delhi, May 22 (NationPress) In light of his challenging performance during the IPL 2025 season, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) captain Rishabh Pant took a stand against a social media user who disseminated misleading information concerning his future in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He emphasized the need for greater sensibility and accountability when sharing posts online.
Pant, who was acquired by LSG for a record-setting Rs 27 crore in the mega auction before IPL 2025, is currently facing his most disappointing season, tallying only 135 runs across 12 matches.
In his last 10 outings in IPL 2025, Pant's performances have included scores of 2, 2, DNB, 21, 63, 3, 0, 4, 8, and 7 runs, with his methods of dismissal proving to be equally frustrating.
"I recognize that fake news often garners more attention, but we shouldn't construct narratives around it. A little common sense and credible information are far more beneficial than fabricating news with ulterior motives. Thank you, and have a great day. Let's be responsible and considerate with what we share on social media," Pant remarked in response to an X post suggesting that LSG would release him prior to IPL 2026.
Pant's performance this season marks the only time he has scored fewer than 200 runs since his IPL debut in 2016 with Delhi Capitals (formerly Delhi Daredevils). His struggles have also led to LSG missing out on a playoff berth for the second year in a row.
The 27-year-old wicketkeeper-batter was not retained by Delhi Capitals after IPL 2024 and became the most sought-after player in the mega auction.
With just two matches remaining in the league phase for LSG, teammate Mitchell Marsh expressed confidence in Pant's ability to finish the season strong.
"We all know he is an exceptional player, highly skilled and talented, so he will bounce back, but we hope the last two games will be better. The time for reflection will come after the season; for me, it's about focusing on winning the next two games for our team and franchise. The IPL is a tough tournament, and the margins are incredibly slim," Marsh commented during a post-match press conference following their recent loss to Sunrisers Hyderabad.
LSG is set to face Gujarat Titans on Thursday, before concluding their IPL 2025 journey against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Lucknow on May 27.
