Rupinder Pal Singh Expresses Excitement Over Return to HIL with Bengal Tigers

New Delhi, Dec 23 (NationPress) The Shrachi Rarh Bengal Tigers have made a noteworthy enhancement to their roster by securing Rupinder Pal Singh during the Hockey India League (HIL) auction for Rs 12.5 lakhs earlier this year. The 34-year-old drag flick specialist, celebrated for his exceptional goal-scoring prowess, makes his comeback to the league boasting an impressive tally of 234 goals in 223 matches.

Rupinder, who last participated in the historic bronze medal match against Germany at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, where he helped end a 42-year Olympic medal drought, brings a rich reservoir of experience and talent to the Bengal Tigers. Previously, he showcased his skills with the Delhi Waveriders in the last edition of the HIL, and his re-entry is highly anticipated by fans and teammates alike.

"Playing in the Hockey India League again is genuinely exhilarating for me. After years with international teams and competing against the elite globally, returning to the turf with familiar teammates and emerging talents is a feeling beyond words. This time, I'm fortunate to play alongside players like Jugraj Singh, Abhishek, and Sukhjeet – some of whom I haven’t had the chance to team up with on the international stage. It’s a tremendous opportunity for me to share the field with them and to be back in action after such a long hiatus," Rupinder expressed.

The Shrachi Rarh Bengal Tigers have assembled a formidable squad, featuring the dynamic duo of Abhishek and Sukhjeet Singh, along with the prolific Belgian forward Florent van Aubel. On the defensive end, Rupinder will be accompanied by fellow drag flicker Jugraj Singh, enhancing the team's already powerful scoring capabilities.

"I’ve always maintained that the competitive nature of the league, playing against top-tier athletes from around the globe, drives us to elevate our game. The teams are filled with outstanding talent, including players from the national squad and international stars like Belgian forward Florent van Aubel.

"I am eager to compete against the likes of Harmanpreet and Gurinder as well. The thrill of witnessing the finest players in action will be tremendous. The Hockey India League serves as a gathering point for all of us, offering an exciting platform for the next generation of hockey," he concluded.
