New Delhi, March 20 (NationPress) The women's cricket team of South Africa is set to welcome both India and Australia for an action-packed series that features a multi-format competition, including two unique Test matches. The tour by India will commence with a three-match ODI series, which is a segment of the ICC Women's Championship, beginning on March 9 in Potchefstroom.

The second ODI is scheduled for Bloemfontein, followed by the final match at Newlands in Cape Town. These ODIs are pivotal for securing a spot in the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2029, heightening the stakes of the series.

In addition, there will be a one-off Test match at St George’s Park in Gqeberha from December 20 to 23. This marks the fourth red-ball clash between the two nations.

India has triumphed in all three previous encounters in 2002, 2014, and 2024. This Test will coincide with the opening men's Test between England and South Africa in Johannesburg, signifying a notable moment for the sport in the region.

Following India, Australia will embark on their historic visit; this represents their first complete bilateral tour of South Africa since a planned 2020 trip was interrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The series will kick off with a trio of T20Is starting on March 18 in Kimberley, then moving to Benoni and KuGompo City (East London). Subsequently, there will be a three-match ODI series commencing on March 27 in Gqeberha, progressing to Paarl, and concluding in Durban on April 3.

The final ODI will be recognized as a ‘Black Day’ fixture, underscoring the ongoing battle against gender-based violence. The multi-format series will wrap up with a one-off Test at the JB Marks Oval in North West from April 8 to 11.

This will be the second Women's Test between South Africa and Australia, following their earlier encounter in Perth in February 2024, where Australia won by an innings and 284 runs.

Cricket South Africa's CEO Pholetsi Moseki expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming season, stating, “We are thrilled to host two of the world's leading teams in India and Australia for what is expected to be an exhilarating home summer for the Proteas Women. These tours will highlight the finest in international women's cricket and contribute to the growing fan attendance as we continue to attract larger crowds across the nation to witness world-class players at our iconic venues.”
