Liverpool, April 11 (NationPress) Liverpool has officially put an end to months of speculation by announcing a new long-term contract for star forward Mohamed Salah, securing the Egyptian's services until 2027. Salah's updated deal, which will see him at Anfield until he is 35, dismisses widespread rumors of a potential free transfer once his previous contract expired. Instead, the club's third all-time top scorer has reiterated his dedication to Liverpool, where he has already made a significant impact.

“It’s fantastic, I have experienced my best years here. I have played for eight years; I hope to reach 10. I am enjoying my life here and my football. These have been the best years of my career,” Salah expressed in a statement on Friday.

“I want to tell [the fans], I am incredibly happy to be here. I signed because I believe we can achieve many significant trophies together. Keep supporting us, and we will give our best; hopefully, we will win more trophies in the future.”

Since his transfer from AS Roma for £43.9 million in 2017, Salah has been a prolific scorer for the Reds, ranking behind only Ian Rush and Roger Hunt in the club’s all-time scoring list. If he maintains his fitness and productivity over the next two years, Salah has a strong chance of surpassing Hunt to claim second place.

He also ranks sixth on the club’s all-time assist chart and could potentially rise to second place, with Kenny Dalglish being the only player likely to remain out of reach.

At 32 years old, Salah is still at the peak of his abilities and continues to be a vital player in Slot’s system. In fact, despite having spent only one season under the Dutchman, Salah has already recorded the second-highest goal contributions (goals + assists) of any player managed by Slot, trailing only Santiago Gimenez, who played two seasons for Slot at Feyenoord.

During his tenure at Anfield, Salah has secured seven major trophies, including medals in the Premier League and Champions League, as well as the FIFA Club World Cup, UEFA Super Cup, FA Cup, and two League Cups.

Moreover, he has won the Premier League Golden Boot three times, been awarded the PFA Players’ Player of the Year twice, and received two FWA Footballer of the Year awards.
