New Delhi, April 6 (NationPress) Indian wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson, renowned fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah, and South African batsman Connor Esterhuizen have been nominated for the prestigious ICC Men’s Player of the Month award for March 2026.

Samson, who initially began the 2026 Men’s T20 World Cup on the bench, crafted an incredible personal journey once he was given a chance to play during the Super Eights match against Zimbabwe in Chennai.

He delivered a breathtaking performance, scoring an unbeaten 97 against the West Indies in a crucial Super Eights match in Kolkata. Following that, he recorded scores of 89 in both the semi-final against England in Mumbai and the final against New Zealand in Ahmedabad. His remarkable contributions were vital in helping India secure the title on home turf, earning him the Player of the Tournament accolade.

On the other hand, Bumrah was instrumental in every knockout match leading up to India’s championship victory. In a semi-final where most bowlers struggled to maintain their economy, Bumrah excelled, taking 1 wicket for 31 runs—his crucial 16th and 18th overs were pivotal, preventing England from chasing down the target, ultimately falling short by seven runs.

In the final, he showcased his exceptional skill with a four-wicket haul, allowing only 15 runs in four overs, which earned him the Player of the Match award on his home ground. Over the last three matches of the tournament, Bumrah secured seven wickets at an impressive average of 12 and an economy rate of 7.

After the conclusion of the T20 World Cup, Esterhuizen excelled, amassing 200 runs over five matches against New Zealand. He achieved his first T20I fifty in the fourth match and later scored an unbeaten 75 off just 33 balls in the decisive fifth game, leading to a 3-2 series victory.

Esterhuizen also received two Player of the Match awards, reaching 39th in the men’s T20I batting rankings with 551 rating points, making him the fourth-best South African batter after five matches.
