Sergio Conceicao Takes the Helm as AC Milan's New Head Coach

Milan, Dec 30 (NationPress) AC Milan has officially named Sergio Conceicao as the new head coach of the club, signing a contract that will last until June 2026. He will take over from Paulo Fonseca, who was let go earlier today after a disappointing 1-1 draw at home against Roma.
In an official statement, AC Milan declared, "AC Milan announces that Sergio Paulo Marceneiro da Conceicao has been appointed as the head coach of the men's first team until June 30, 2026. The Club extends a warm welcome to Sergio and his staff, wishing them a journey filled with success and fulfillment."
The Portuguese coach arrives after a commendable stint with Porto, where he started his tenure in 2018 and secured three league titles and four Portuguese Cups by the end of the 2023/24 season.
Fonseca had taken over as the head coach at the beginning of the 2024-25 season but faced significant challenges during his brief time in charge. Under his leadership, the team managed to win only 12 out of 24 matches, leaving them in eighth place, trailing behind rivals such as Inter Milan, Juventus, and Napoli in the Serie A standings.
Earlier on Monday, the club confirmed, "AC Milan announces that Paulo Fonseca has been relieved from his duties as head coach of the men's first team. The Club expresses gratitude to Paulo for his professionalism and wishes him success in his future endeavors."
Following the draw against Roma, Fonseca acknowledged to the media that his tenure was over before the official announcement from the club. "Yes, it's true. I'm out. That's life ... I did everything I could,” he stated to reporters as he left.
The Rossoneri are set to face Juventus in the semi-finals of the Supercoppa Italiana at Al-Awwal Park in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, this Saturday (IST), before taking on Cagliari in their next league match on January 12.
