He triumphed over American qualifier Eliot Spizzirri with scores of 4–6, 6–3, 6–4, 6–4, advancing to the fourth round at Rod Laver Arena.

Midway through the match, Sinner's resilience was truly put to the test. After splitting the first two sets, Spizzirri took the lead at 3–1 in the third set as Sinner appeared to struggle with cramping, hampering his movement and service in the sweltering heat of Melbourne.
