New York, Sep 6 (NationPress) World No.1 Jannik Sinner has assured fans that his injury concerns are ‘nothing to worry about’ ahead of the 2025 US Open final, where he is set to compete against Carlos Alcaraz. The Italian briefly left the court to receive treatment for a stomach issue after losing the second set against Felix Auger-Aliassime. He returned to secure a victory in the semi-finals in four sets, marking his fifth consecutive appearance in a major final.
“I felt a slight twitch after a serve during the second set at 4-3. After receiving treatment, I felt much better,” Sinner stated.
“At one point, I didn’t feel any discomfort. I was serving at my regular pace, so everything is fine. There’s nothing to worry about. I opted to leave the court because it was a different area. Everything is okay.”
Sinner aims to win his fifth major trophy, having triumphed in three of the last four Grand Slams. If he defeats Alcaraz in Sunday’s championship match, he will achieve four titles out of five.
“Incredible stats. I never imagined I would reach this point when I turned professional, and now I find myself here. Five consecutive Grand Slam finals is a remarkable feat. The consistency in reaching the later stages of the biggest tournaments is phenomenal.”
“However, I’m aware of everything in the back of my mind. Regardless of what has happened, I’m focused on the significant day ahead on Sunday, and then we’ll see,” Sinner added.
The US Open final between Sinner and Alcaraz will not only determine the season’s final major title but also the world No. 1 ranking in the ATP Rankings.
Sinner has maintained the top position for 65 consecutive weeks since he claimed it on June 10 last year, making him the first Italian to achieve this milestone.
