New Delhi, Sep 22 (NationPress) India's off-spin bowling all-rounder Sneh Rana expressed the team's strong determination to win the forthcoming 2025 Women’s ODI World Cup, emphasizing that their shared goal is to fill the trophy cabinet with a World Cup.
India will kick off their journey against co-hosts Sri Lanka in Guwahati on September 30. “It’s always a privilege to compete in the World Cup. As a cricketer, dreaming of representing your country on such a grand stage is a significant aspiration. This time, the challenge is heightened as we're playing on home soil,” she remarked.
“It’s a remarkable feeling, especially for Harman didi (Harmanpreet Kaur), who has dedicated many years to cricket. Our mission is to fill the trophy cabinet with a World Cup,” Sneh added during her appearance on JioHotstar’s show ‘Off the Pitch’.
Fellow off-spin bowling all-rounder Deepti Sharma shared insights about the team’s mentality leading to the World Cup. “Throughout our bilateral series, the thought of lifting the World Cup trophy has been ever-present. This also marks Amol Muzumdar (Head Coach, Team India) sir’s inaugural World Cup, making it particularly significant. Playing in front of a vast audience in India is bound to create unforgettable memories, and we are prepared for it,” she stated.
Sneh further acknowledged the transformative impact of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) on women's cricket in India. “The WPL has significantly influenced Indian women's cricket by providing a platform to compete alongside and against top-tier players globally.
“Learning from elite foreign coaches—their strategies, thought processes, and reactions during critical situations—is an invaluable experience,” she elaborated.
India wicketkeeper batter Richa Ghosh discussed how the WPL has contributed to her development as a keeper. “The WPL is incredibly beneficial; I always make it a point to attend meetings focused on bowling discussions. Understanding the game as thoroughly as the captain and bowlers is crucial for me as a keeper.
“Interacting with international players is very enriching; their tactics and strategies differ significantly, which provides me with a competitive edge. It equips me with insights into their approaches, whether I'm playing alongside or against them,” Richa explained.
