Lucknow, April 12 (NationPress) All-rounder Washington Sundar of the Gujarat Titans shared insights into his strategy for managing high-pressure moments, stressing the significance of maintaining a clear mind and relying on his natural instincts.

Reflecting on GT's nail-biting victory in their last match before facing the Lucknow Super Giants, Sundar pointed out that channeling the right energy and letting his instincts guide him has been crucial to his success, providing a glimpse into the mindset that propels him during critical situations.

Sundar had a key impact in that match, scoring a crucial half-century, and he discussed his batting approach this season, prioritizing mindset over technical adjustments.

“Honestly, it’s about stepping onto the field and offering your best energy while allowing your instincts to shine. There hasn’t been much I’ve focused on, especially mentally. My aim was to maintain positive energy and express myself freely,” he remarked ahead of the LSG vs GT match at the Ekana Cricket Stadium this Sunday.

Gujarat secured a thrilling win against Delhi, finishing the game with a last-ball performance by their bowlers, who remained resilient under pressure. Sundar acknowledged that the close nature of the match provided ample food for thought, although the team drew confidence from their ability to handle intense moments.

“Many thoughts crossed our minds regarding how tightly contested the game was. We could have executed a few things better, but honestly, the bowlers performed admirably, especially under pressure. Prasidh, in particular, managed the final over brilliantly with five fielders in the circle while defending 12 runs, which posed a significant challenge.

“Skill is never in question; it’s all about our decision-making, the choices we make for each delivery, and our execution. I believe we managed that quite well in our last game,” he added.

While such victories can create momentum, Sundar remained realistic about its significance for the overall tournament, emphasizing the need for consistency throughout the lengthy competition.

“I can’t afford to think that way because it’s a long tournament. Winning one match doesn’t guarantee victory in subsequent games, nor does losing one mean an inevitable drop in morale. It doesn’t always function that way. We must focus on what’s necessary to secure victories.

“Ultimately, we always play as a team, which has been a significant strength for GT. We just need to go out there, perform the required tasks, and consistently do the right things over time, and results will follow,” Sundar concluded.
