Hubli, February 24 (NationPress) The Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) proudly launched the Sunil Joshi Pavilion at the KSCA Stadium in Hubli on Tuesday, honoring the remarkable contributions of former Indian left-arm spinner, Sunil Joshi, to both state and national cricket teams.

The inauguration ceremony was officiated by BCCI President Mithun Manhas and KSCA President Venkatesh Prasad during the Ranji Trophy Final, featuring Jammu & Kashmir against the illustrious eight-time champions, Karnataka.

Accompanied by his wife, Ravneet, Joshi was visibly moved during the event, which also saw the presence of Union Minister Prahlad Joshi and former Karnataka Chief Minister. He expressed, "I never imagined my name would be associated with a pavilion one day. I extend my gratitude to KSCA President Venkatesh Prasad and Sintosh Menon... The dedication I've shown over the years is recognized today, and if I can inspire even one more player from this stand, it would hold significant meaning," Joshi shared with the press.

Representing India in 15 Tests and 69 ODIs between 1996 and 2001, Joshi was a cornerstone of the Karnataka cricket team. He also held the position of chief selector for two years, contributing to India’s Test series victory in Australia in 2020/21, and served on the selection committee from March 2020 to early 2023.

In addition, he coached the Jammu & Kashmir and Uttar Pradesh teams in domestic cricket and served as the spin bowling coach for Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the IPL from 2023 to 2025.

Currently, Joshi is the spin bowling coach at the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru and was part of the coaching staff when India clinched the U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup in Harare earlier this month.

The unveiling of the pavilion dedicated to Sunil Joshi coincided with the KSCA Stadium hosting the prestigious Ranji Trophy final between Karnataka and Jammu & Kashmir.
