New Delhi, July 24 (NationPress) Sunil Narine, the latest West Indian acquisition for Durban’s Super Giants, expressed his eagerness to embrace the distinctive challenges that come with competing in the SA20.
Narine stands as one of the most seasoned T20 athletes globally. The all-rounder boasts two T20 World Cup victories, multiple championships in the Indian Premier League, and has participated in over 550 T20 matches across various leagues worldwide.
At 37 years old, Narine has previously played just one season in South Africa, where he contributed to the now-defunct Cape Cobras achieving the runner-up position in the domestic T20 league during the 2013/14 season. He is set to make his SA20 debut in the upcoming Season 4.
“I’m truly excited to embark on a new journey with DSG later this year,” Narine remarked.
“This will be my first experience in SA20, and I am eager to tackle the distinctive challenges it offers, alongside the enthusiastic crowds.”
Additionally, former England captain Jos Buttler is also preparing for a fresh SA20 endeavor with DSG after spending the first two seasons with Paarl Royals.
Buttler had an impressive run in both seasons, leading the competition as the top run-scorer with 391 runs in the inaugural season, followed by 408 runs the next year, totaling 799 runs in SA20.
Having missed Season 3 due to international duties, the 34-year-old is now ready to forge a new path with the Super Giants.
“Competing in South Africa has always held a special significance for me, and I am excited to contribute to a team that is both bold and ambitious,” Buttler stated.
“I had an excellent conversation with Dr. Sanjiv Goenka and can’t wait to dive in with DSG.”
Super Giants coach Lance Klusener warmly welcomed both players to Kingsmead, reaffirming the retention of fan favorites Heinrich Klaasen and Noor Ahmad.
“We are delighted to continue our journey with Klaasen and Noor, who have both been remarkable assets for DSG,” Klusener said.
“Klaasen’s explosive performance and composure under pressure, coupled with Noor’s remarkable bowling skills, provide us with a dynamic advantage.
“Jos and Sunil bring invaluable leadership, experience, and match-winning capabilities that every team aspires to have. We are constructing a well-rounded squad that can adapt and excel.”
