Dubai, March 25 (NationPress) The Australian all-rounder Annabel Sutherland delivered an impressive performance with a career-best spell of four wickets for eight runs against New Zealand in the second T20I held at Mount Maunganui, elevating her to a new career-high in the ICC Women's T20I bowling rankings.

With this achievement, Sutherland has climbed to fourth place with 729 rating points, closely trailing India’s Deepti Sharma, who holds the third position with 737 points.

The 22-year-old showcased her bowling prowess in the match against New Zealand, taking four vital wickets that dismantled New Zealand’s chase. Her efforts helped Australia limit their opponents to just 122 runs, securing a commanding 82-run victory and an unassailable 2-0 series lead. Consequently, she now has a career-best rating of 729 points, just 27 points away from the top spot.

Sutherland wasn’t the only Australian bowler making headlines. Young pacer Darcie Brown made impressive gains, moving up 12 places to secure the 18th position with 643 points, while the list is still dominated by England’s Sophie Ecclestone, after her match figures of 1-22 and 2-23 in the first two encounters.

Star wicketkeeper-batter Beth Mooney solidified her standing at the top of the ICC T20I batting rankings with back-to-back match-winning performances of 75 not out and 70. Her teammate Tahlia McGrath held onto the second position, while India’s Smriti Mandhana remained at No. 3.

Young batter Phoebe Litchfield climbed three spots to 22nd following her crucial contribution of 32 runs in the second match. The top 10 of the batters’ list saw relatively minor changes, with West Indies’ Deandra Dottin, India’s Harmanpreet Kaur, and England’s Danni Wyatt-Hodge all moving one place up to share the 10th position with 628 points.

Despite their series challenges, New Zealand’s players also gained ground. All-rounder Melie Kerr jumped two spots to 17th in the batting rankings after her resilient 40-run innings in the second match, while Georgia Plimmer surged 20 positions to break into the top 50.

In the all-rounder category, West Indies’ Hayley Matthews retains the top position, while Kerr stays firm at second. McGrath’s ascent continued as she moved up three places to 18th, with Sutherland inching one spot higher to 21st, further emphasizing Australia’s all-round strength in global cricket.
