New Delhi, April 29 (NationPress) Swapnil Kusale, who clinched a bronze at the Paris Olympics, alongside Palak, the current Asian Games champion, is rejoining the Indian team. The National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) has disclosed a 23-member squad for the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup stage for Rifle/Pistol, taking place in Munich, Germany, in the first week of June.
Notably, Manu Bhaker, a double Olympic medallist, will once again represent India in two individual events, qualifying for both the women’s 10m and 25m pistol competitions.
Joining the lineup is Sandeep Singh in the men’s air rifle category, marking his return to the Indian squad post-Paris Olympics, alongside Swapnil, as stated in a release from the NRAI on Tuesday.
The Indian Rifle and Pistol team recently finished their campaign at a two-legged combined ISSF World Cup event in Argentina and Peru, securing 15 medals, including six golds. They ranked second in Argentina and third in Peru.
A total of 13 members from that successful squad will compete in Munich, with unchanged entries in the women’s 50m rifle 3 positions (3P) and 25m pistol events.
There will also be three debutants representing India in Munich. National champion Ananya Naidu from Maharashtra aims to carry her domestic success onto the international platform.
