Did Manchester City Just Sign German Midfielder Sydney Lohmann?

Manchester, July 9 (NationPress) Manchester City has officially announced the acquisition of German international Sydney Lohmann. She will don the number 22 jersey throughout her tenure at the club, having secured a four-year contract.

The 25-year-old arrives at City following an impressive nine-year tenure with Bayern Munich, where she became recognized as one of the premier midfielders across Europe. During her spell in Bavaria, Lohmann was integral to four title-winning teams, including a domestic double in the 2024/25 season.

Reflecting on her transfer, Lohmann expressed, “I feel incredibly optimistic about my future at Manchester City. I’ve always envisioned playing abroad at some point in my career, and this year felt like the perfect moment to embrace that opportunity.”

A well-established German international, Lohmann made her senior debut in 2018 and has since earned 39 caps for her nation, scoring six goals.

Having helped Germany secure a bronze medal at the 2024 Olympic Games and reach the final of Euro 2022, she is set to once again represent her country at Euro 2025, joining forces with new City teammate Rebecca Knaak. With four Bundesliga championships, a DFB-Pokal, and a German Super Cup to her name during her nine seasons at Bayern Munich, Lohmann’s achievements speak for themselves.

Making her debut for the German giants at the age of 17, she quickly became a regular starter within two seasons and played a crucial role in Bayern’s first league title in five years during the 2020/21 season. Lohmann finished as the Bundesliga’s top-scoring midfielder that year, netting ten goals in 20 league matches. From that point onward, she and her team never looked back.

Three additional titles followed over the next four years, including a domestic double in 2024/25, with the German international being a key player in each triumph.
