Liverpool, July 18 (NationPress) Scotland international Sam Kerr has finalized a permanent transfer to Liverpool FC Women from Bayern Munich. The 26-year-old midfielder is making her return to the club after spending the latter part of the previous season on loan with the Reds.
Kerr’s notable performance in 2024-25 featured 14 appearances—all as a starter—and one goal.
The move back to Merseyside has been confirmed, with Kerr successfully completing a medical examination and signing her contract at the AXA Melwood Training Centre.
“I’m thrilled to begin this new chapter and I truly enjoyed my time here, so extending my stay was a priority. I’m overjoyed that we could finalize this deal and that I’m committed for the long haul. I realized within a few months that I was loving it here, and if I had the chance to stay, I would jump at it,” she expressed to Liverpoolfc.com.
Kerr made the switch to Bayern in 2023, where she contributed to the team clinching the Frauen Bundesliga title in her debut season.
Previously, she experienced significant domestic triumphs in Scotland, winning the Scottish Women’s Premier League with Rangers in 2022, and had previously won it with Glasgow City in 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019.
She was honored as the Scotland Women’s Player of the Year in 2022 and has been named in the PFA Scotland Team of the Year twice (2021-22 and 2022-23).
“I believe the WSL is currently the premier league globally, and competing in such a top-tier environment pushes every player to perform their best—it's a dream for anyone in the sport,” Kerr added.
