Manchester, June 22 (NationPress) - Manchester City has officially revealed the acquisition of promising young forward Iman Beney, pending international clearance and the processing of a work visa.
A fully-fledged Swiss international, the 18-year-old joins the Joie Stadium following an impressive season in Switzerland, where she played a key role in helping BSC Young Boys Frauen clinch the league title.
Beney was instrumental in that triumph, scoring the crucial penalty during a shootout victory against GC Zurich, securing the club's first domestic title since 2011.
“I’m very excited to be here and I can’t wait to kick off the new season with Manchester City. I had a great connection with Therese Sjogran, and I believe City is the ideal environment for my development as a player. They have ambitious plans for the upcoming season, and I feel this is the perfect place for my growth. They focus on possession football, which I enjoy, making it a great fit for me,” she expressed.
In the 2024/25 season, the young talent netted nine goals in 22 appearances, earning her a place in the Swiss Super League Team of the Season. A dynamic and agile player with a knack for finding the back of the net, Beney has also made significant strides on the international stage in her early career.
She was named in the Women’s Under-17 European Championship Team of the Tournament in May 2023 and was selected to represent Switzerland at the FIFA World Cup that summer at just 16 years old.
Although an Anterior Cruciate Ligament injury sidelined her from the tournament, Beney has since made a successful return and regularly features in the Swiss national team, often taking on the role of a right wing-back.
After achieving success in her home country, the 18-year-old is eager to embark on a new chapter with City.
