Adelaide, March 13 (NationPress) Diksha Dagar, Vani Kapoor, and Avani Prashanth successfully made the halfway cut at the Women’s Australian Open, while their compatriots, Hitaashee Bakshi and Pranavi Urs, were unable to qualify.

Diksha, who was the leading Indian player last week, carded a score of 2-over 74, bringing her total to 2-over for the two rounds. Vani Kapoor, who received an invitation to participate this week, added a 2-over 74 to her earlier 72, finishing at 2-over for 36 holes, placing them both in a tie for 31st position.

Avani, after missing the cut in her last two tournaments, recorded a first-round score of 77 and improved with a 72, making the cut right on the line at 5-over, positioning her tied for 60th as 67 players advanced.

Hitaashee Bakshi (77-74) and Pranavi Urs (78-75) did not make the cut.

Celine Herbin will head into the weekend with a one-shot advantage after shooting a second-round score of 69 (-3) at the challenging Kooyonga Golf Club, bringing her total to six-under par.

Major champion Hannah Green is just one stroke behind in a tie for second alongside fellow Australian Kirsten Rudgeley and France’s Agathe Laisne, who recently triumphed at the Ford Women’s NSW Open.

The two-time Ladies European Tour (LET) winner Herbin found her stride on the back nine after navigating through 10 consecutive pars on the front nine.

After the turn, Herbin scored birdies at the 2nd, 4th, 5th, and 6th holes to take a two-shot lead, though she lost two shots with a double bogey on the 8th.

As the temperature in Adelaide cooled, the 43-year-old made a crucial birdie on the par-5 9th hole with a superb third shot, leading a tightly packed group by a single stroke as the weekend approaches.

Among her challengers, seven-time LPGA champion Green recorded five birdies in her last 10 holes to bounce back from a double bogey at the 7th, finishing with a score of 69 (-3).

No Australian has won the Women’s Australian Open since Karrie Webb lifted the coveted trophy in 2014.
