New Delhi, June 26 (NationPress) Cricket Australia (CA) announced on Thursday that the allocation of public tickets for the India-Australia ODI match in Sydney and the T20I game in Canberra, scheduled for November, has been completely sold out a remarkable four months prior to the events.
In addition to the record-setting sales from the Ashes series, CA noted a significant surge in interest from the Indian community eager to purchase tickets for the white-ball series in Australia this October-November.
The demand has been so high that 90,000 tickets for a total of eight matches, including popular T20Is in Melbourne and Brisbane, were snapped up just two weeks after ticket sales commenced.
"The complete exhaustion of our public ticket allocation for the SCG ODI and Manuka Oval T20I four months ahead of the series demonstrates the immense enthusiasm for the upcoming cricket season among fans," said Joel Morrison, Executive General Manager Events & Operations at Cricket Australia.
"We are excited to observe continued strong engagement from the Indian community following a record-breaking Border-Gavaskar series last summer. The anticipated turnout of both Australian and Indian fans promises to create a vibrant atmosphere at every match.
"There is tremendous enthusiasm for what is expected to be our biggest summer of cricket yet, so we advise fans to secure their tickets early to guarantee their spot at the action,” Morrison added.
CA further reported that over 16 percent of tickets sold thus far have been acquired by Indian fan clubs. The Bharat Army has emerged as one of the most proactive groups, purchasing over 2,400 tickets. Fans from India have also displayed great interest, acquiring more than 1,400 tickets.
Moreover, Amit Goyal from Brissy Baniyas, an Aggarwal community in Australia, has purchased 880 tickets for the Gabba T20I, setting the record for the highest individual ticket buyer for a single match. Meanwhile, the Indian Community of Gold Coast and Pakka Local have collectively bought over 500 tickets for the Gold Coast and MCG T20Is, respectively.
