Hyderabad, Sep 30 (NationPress) Indian all-rounder and Asia Cup champion Tilak Varma expressed deep gratitude towards his childhood coaches for their unwavering support in developing his career. He emphasized that training at the academy during his formative years instilled in him the confidence to excel in cricket.
Varma noted that the recognition he enjoys today is largely due to the steadfast backing of his coaches since childhood, which has propelled him forward in his journey as a professional cricketer.
“While everyone knows my name now, I remember a time when I was unknown. My coaches stood by me, providing significant support, and helped me build and shape my career from a young age. The ups and downs are part of the game. I began at Legala Cricket Academy, and every practice session here boosts my confidence. I believe that being on this ground gives me the strength to perform well,” he stated.
He expressed special appreciation for his coaches, Salam (Bayash) sir and Prithvi sir, calling them invaluable to his journey. He also thanked the Hyderabad Cricket Association and the BCCI for presenting him with this opportunity,” Varma shared with the press on Tuesday.
Varma recently shone as a pivotal player for the Indian team during the Asia Cup 2025, leading them to victory over arch-rivals Pakistan by five wickets to secure the title for the ninth time. The talented 22-year-old played a remarkable innings, remaining unbeaten on 69 off 53 balls, contributing significantly to India’s thrilling win.
When asked about his performance in the final against Pakistan, he mentioned, “This innings is among my best. I also hold my innings in Chennai against England in high regard. However, playing in the Asia Cup under pressure against Pakistan provides an incredible feeling. I consider this my best innings, even better than my two hundreds. The emotions are unparalleled.”
