Melbourne, June 20 (NationPress) Former Australia Test captain Tim Paine has been appointed as the head coach for the Australia A men's teams in the upcoming season, which will kick off with a series against Sri Lanka A in Darwin starting July 4.

Paine is set to collaborate with national pace bowling coach Adam Griffith, assistant coach of the Australian women's team Scott Prestwidge, and Northern Territory Cricket’s Pathway and Development coach Trent Keep as part of the coaching staff for the series against Sri Lanka A in Darwin.

“We are excited to see Tim take on the head coach role for Australia A this season, building on his involvement in national programs over the last two years. Tim is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of Australian players and brings a vast amount of modern playing and coaching expertise,” stated Ben Oliver, CA Executive General Manager National Teams.

Paine, who played for the national team from 2009 to 2021, will also provide coaching assistance to the Australian women’s team at various points during the upcoming season, in addition to his commitments with Australia A and Adelaide Strikers.

Over the past two years, he has contributed to the Australian women’s team and Australia A men’s program in a support capacity, and he also coached the PM’s XI against India last December.

In other news, uncontracted left-arm spinner Zanden Jeh has been included in the Australia A squad for the multi-format series against Sri Lanka in Darwin.

Jeh recorded impressive figures of 5-27 in his first Second XI match last season against the ACT and claimed the wicket of Glenn Maxwell in a later match at the Junction Oval. He has taken 27 wickets in Premier Cricket for South Brisbane and scored 465 runs.
