New Delhi, April 10 (NationPress) Hockey India has made a significant announcement by naming Tim White as the new coach of the junior women's team. The Australian high-performance coach, who previously led the Accord Tamil Nadu Dragons in the Hockey India League (HIL) earlier this year, is set to focus on nurturing the upcoming generation of international hockey talent.

White brings a wealth of experience to the role, having recently celebrated success in Belgium. Before his move to India, he was the coach of the Belgium Under-21 women's team, which achieved a remarkable bronze medal at the 2025 Junior World Cup held in December.

From 2021 to 2024, he was a key member of the coaching staff for the Belgium women's national team, where he played a pivotal role in elevating their world ranking from 12th to 3rd, culminating in a semi-final appearance at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.

Earlier in his career, White served as the national junior coach for Australia, also securing a bronze medal at the Junior World Cup.

In response to his appointment, White remarked, "Having recently spent time in India as the coach of the Tamil Nadu Dragons, I was captivated by the country's deep-rooted passion for hockey. I have witnessed the tremendous young talent while competing against India at Junior World Cups, and I consider it a privilege to work in a full-time program with such driven athletes. My aim is to cultivate technically proficient players who can seamlessly transition to the senior team."

He further elaborated on his vision for the squad, saying, "I intend to simplify the game and concentrate on enhancing our collective and individual strengths. Our goal is to establish a team that appreciates attacking hockey while maintaining rigorous discipline in our defensive strategies. It's essential that we train hard physically to sustain high performance for the entire 60 minutes. By mastering fundamental skills under pressure and prioritizing teamwork, we will be well-equipped for any international contest."

The decision to appoint White is viewed as a strategic move to incorporate contemporary tactical discipline into the junior ranks of Indian hockey. His experience also includes serving as the National Junior Coach for Hockey Australia and managing high-performance pathways in Europe.
