Hyderabad, April 6 (NationPress) Sunrisers Hyderabad batter Travis Head is optimistic about a significant improvement from the batting lineup against Gujarat Titans at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Sunday following their lackluster performance in the previous two matches.
Head, who tallied scores of 67 and 47 in the initial matches of the IPL 2025 season, managed only 22 and four in the last two games, missing the chance to provide a solid start for the team alongside Abhishek Sharma.
"As an opening batter, your goal is to establish the game and evaluate the conditions. I aim to stay calm and ensure I lead my team off to the best start possible. You have to prepare for various matchups and consider the strategies the opposition might employ," Head informed broadcasters prior to the toss.
In discussing his strategy for the upcoming match, Head highlighted the necessity of maximizing the powerplay overs to set the stage for the following batters.
"Each match is unique, and I will focus on where to attack the bowlers, identifying the opportunities they may present. It’s crucial to get off to a solid start in the first few overs and then see how the powerplay unfolds," the Australian batter stated.
"We perform best when we adopt this mindset; we know we have a robust batting order. While it may not work every time, we must seize opportunities when a player is in form, with the rest supporting him. We’ve had a productive couple of days here, and we are looking forward to a strong start," Head added.
The captain of Gujarat Titans, Shubman Gill, won the toss and chose to have the home team bat first.
