New Delhi, May 25 (NationPress) As Sunrisers Hyderabad prepares for their final match in IPL 2025, left-handed opener Travis Head expressed optimism that the team can finish on a high note against the Kolkata Knight Riders, noting their impressive performances in recent matches.
Despite being the runners-up in IPL 2022, SRH did not reach the playoffs this season. However, the team, captained by Pat Cummins, is entering this Sunday’s game with a streak of three wins in their last four outings. A victory against KKR at the Arun Jaitley Stadium would secure them a sixth-place finish on the points table.
“It wasn’t ideal dealing with Covid-19 – not being able to enjoy a few days off at home. But I am back now and feeling good, so I hope we can secure another win. We have played superb cricket in our last few games, and I aim for us to conclude with a win,” Head mentioned during a pre-match interview with broadcasters.
Head's performance this season has been below his usual standards, accumulating only 298 runs in 13 innings at an average of 27.09. “I assessed the wicket and consulted with teammates who have played here previously. We plan to start positively and evaluate the situation as we progress. In our last match, we established a strong foundation, and our batters are in good form. We’ll aim to gauge the wicket quickly,” he elaborated.
In their previous encounter at Kotla, Head and Abhishek Sharma put together 125 runs in the power-play, contributing to a massive total of 267 against the Delhi Capitals in the 2024 season. “We’ve been working diligently and training well, but this season hasn’t been our best. Hopefully, we can finish strong,” he added.
“Delhi is always a fantastic place to play cricket. The pitches have been favorable for batters this year, based on previous matches here. I’m hopeful for another good wicket,” concluded Head.
