Newcastle, April 4 (NationPress) In a significant announcement, Newcastle United has revealed that their esteemed defender Kieran Trippier will be leaving the club when his contract concludes this summer. Trippier, who joined from Atlético Madrid in January 2022, has had a remarkable impact both on and off the field during his four-and-a-half-year tenure at St. James' Park.

When Kieran arrived, Newcastle was struggling in the Premier League's relegation zone. However, he played a crucial role in steering the club towards UEFA Champions League qualification on two occasions over the past three seasons.

Trippier also featured for the entire match at Wembley as Newcastle triumphed over Liverpool 2-1 in the 2025 Carabao Cup final. As a pivotal figure in the first team leadership group, he celebrated the club's first domestic trophy in seven decades alongside captain Bruno Guimarães.

In a heartfelt joint statement, the 35-year-old shared his feelings about departing the club where he has always felt at home.

"It’s time to bid farewell to this incredible club after four-and-a-half years. This place has felt like home to me, and leaving is an emotional experience. I will truly miss it," he stated in the club's announcement.

"I extend my deepest gratitude to the supporters for their unwavering support during both the highs and lows. You have always stood by me."

"Lastly, I want to thank the coach, Eddie Howe, and the entire coaching staff. The manager trusted me enough to sign me not once, but twice, allowing me to represent and lead this great club, and most importantly, we achieved victory in a trophy together," he added.

Coach Eddie Howe praised Trippier's contributions and expressed hope for a strong finish to his time at the club.

"Kieran has been exceptional for us both on and off the pitch. From the moment he joined, he has elevated the standards that have shifted the club's trajectory," Howe commented.

"His performances have consistently been top-notch, building strong partnerships with his teammates. His remarkable technical skills enhanced the team, and his excellent crossing ability created numerous scoring opportunities for his fellow players.

"As we prepare to say goodbye to Kieran, we remain focused on the remaining challenges this season, and I know a player of his caliber will give his all to conclude his time here on a high note," he added.
