Vaidehee Chaudhari wins third Fenesta Open title; Maan Kesharwani claims maiden crown
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Vaidehee Chaudhari secured her third Fenesta Open National Tennis Championship title on 10 October at the DLTA Complex in New Delhi, defeating Shruti Ahlawat 6-4, 7-5 in a closely fought women's singles final that stretched over two hours and 15 minutes. In the men's singles, sixth seed Maan Kesharwani claimed his maiden Fenesta Open crown, overpowering third seed Nitin Sinha 6-0, 6-4 in one hour and 37 minutes at the 31st edition of the tournament.
Chaudhari's Third Crown
Top seed Chaudhari, who had previously lifted the trophy in 2022 and 2024, faced a determined challenge from 20-year-old Ahlawat throughout the final. Chaudhari led 5-3 in both sets but was pushed hard each time before eventually sealing the match.
'I feel so proud. This is my third title, so definitely I am very happy right now,' Chaudhari said after the victory. 'In the first set I was 5-3 up, and she kept fighting. Even in the second set, I was 5-3 up, and she kept fighting till the end. It was a great and a close match.'
Kesharwani's Emotional Breakthrough
Kesharwani's triumph was particularly emotional — the sixth seed had lost in the first round of every Fenesta Open for the previous four years before reaching the final and winning it this time. He dominated the opening set, taking all six games without dropping one, before navigating a more competitive second set. A crucial break at 3-2 in the second set proved decisive.
'This is my first Fenesta title. For the last 4 years, I was losing in the first round of every Fenesta Open. This time I directly made the finals and won. I'm very emotional. I don't know how to express it in words, but I'm so happy,' Kesharwani said. He also acknowledged his injured opponent: 'He's a little bit injured, but still he's playing and competing. So proud of him.'
Junior Title Results
In the boys' U-18 singles, 16-year-old tenth seed Ribhav Saroha produced a notable upset, defeating fourth seed Om Ramesh Patel 6-4, 6-3. Saroha, who called the DLTA his 'Indian Grand Slam', noted the pair were level at 3-3 in head-to-head meetings before this match. In the girls' U-18 final, second seed Parthsarthi Mundhe beat seventh seed Aahan Aahan 6-3, 6-4 to claim the title in her first tournament back after a five-month absence.
Presentation Ceremony
The trophy presentation was attended by Rohit Rajpal, president of the Delhi Lawn Tennis Association (DLTA); Saket Jain, Executive Director and Business Head of Fenesta Building Systems; Indian hockey player and 2026 Asian Games gold medallist Jugraj Singh; and Prerna Bhambri, a four-time Fenesta Open champion and treasurer of the DLTA. Singh, attending his first live tennis national, said he was impressed by the players' footwork and shot-making.
