Madrid (Spain), June 17 (NationPress) La Liga club Real Betis has officially confirmed the acquisition of goalkeeper Alvaro Valles from Las Palmas, signing him to a five-year contract. The 27-year-old player, who commenced his journey in the Betis youth academy, is making his return on a free transfer after spending the previous season on the sidelines due to declining a new contract with the recently relegated team, where he made 132 league appearances.
Valles has secured a deal effective until the end of June 2030, enhancing Betis' lineup as the club gears up for Europa League action next season, having finished sixth in La Liga and reached the Conference League final last year, according to reports from Xinhua.
The Ligue I club, Olympique de Marseille, had also shown interest in the goalkeeper, who opted for a return to Betis despite a more lucrative offer.
In addition to Valles, another player departing Las Palmas is winger Alberto Moleiro, who has been confirmed as a new recruit for Villarreal.
Moleiro has signed a contract until June 2030 with Villarreal, who finished last season in fifth place in La Liga. His transfer could potentially facilitate the sale of Spain international Alex Baena to Atletico Madrid this summer, with Atletico reportedly willing to offer around 50 million euros for the forward.
Simultaneously, Athletic Club winger Nico Williams is at the center of yet another transfer story, reminiscent of last summer, with FC Barcelona among the interested parties.
While clubs such as Bayern Munich, Arsenal, and Chelsea are also keeping an eye on the 22-year-old, it appears that Barça has taken the lead following a meeting between the winger’s agent and Deco.
According to MARCA, some voices within Athletic Club are beginning to question whether Nico can commit to the team in the same way his brother Inaki did in 2019 when he signed a contract until 2028 with a release clause of €135 million.
Nico is under contract until 2027 and has attracted transfer interest consistently over the past three summers. Despite turning down offers, he has never completely ruled out a move.
