Lucknow, March 8 (NationPress) Australian batter Georgia Voll delivered an impressive performance, scoring an unbeaten 99 runs off 56 balls, as the UP Warriorz amassed a remarkable total of 225/5 in their 20 overs, marking the highest score in Women's Premier League (WPL) history. They dominated Royal Challengers Bengaluru during Match 18 at the Ekana Stadium on Saturday.

Despite being out of playoff contention, UP Warriorz aimed to finish their season on a high note and capitalized on the lackluster bowling from RCB to surpass the previous highest WPL score of 223/5 set by Delhi Capitals against RCB in 2023.

Voll showcased her talent with a stunning innings, hitting 17 boundaries and one six at a striking rate of 176.78. She narrowly missed achieving her maiden century, falling short of just two runs on the last ball, concluding at 99 not out, which is now the highest individual score in WPL history, equaling Sophie Devine's record.

Opting to bat first, UP Warriorz appeared to find their rhythm, with Grace Harris and Voll contributing to a swift 67-run partnership within the first six overs, setting the record for the highest power-play score this season.

Harris began aggressively, scoring 39 runs off 22 balls, including a six and several boundaries before being run out, leaving UP at 77/1 in the eighth over.

Voll continued the assault against RCB's Renuka Singh, striking three boundaries in four balls during the fourth over. She also hit a six on her first delivery against Charlie Dean and followed with two more boundaries.

The RCB bowlers struggled, and captain Smriti Mandhana brought in spinners to combat the aggressive UP batting, but it was to no avail.

Kiran Navgire also played a crucial role, scoring 46 runs off 16 balls, hitting multiple sixes and boundaries before being dismissed, narrowly missing the record for the fastest fifty in WPL.

Voll reached her half-century in just 31 balls, but UP Warriorz lost momentum in the final over, resulting in two wickets, including a run-out off Deepti Sharma, leaving Voll stranded on 99.

This outcome put RCB in a position where they needed to chase the largest target ever to keep their playoff hopes alive.
