Kolkata, Jan 14 (NationPress) After clinching her first professional title, Rhea Purvi Saravanan is set to tee off in the initial group during the second leg of the WPGT 2025 season at the Tollygunge Club. Joining her are Durga Nittur and Lavanya Jadon, the latter making her pro debut just a week prior. Together, they form part of a competitive field of 33 players vying for the Rs.13 lakh prize at this esteemed venue.

Having recorded scores of 72-72-71 in her previous outing, Rhea aims to capitalize on her recent achievement with the comeback of Vidhatri Urs, who enjoyed a fruitful start to her pro journey in 2024, alongside seasoned players Vani Kapoor and Ridhima Dilawari, both of whom are multiple Tour champions.

Notably, last season’s Order of Merit victor, Hitaashee Bakshi, is absent from this event once again. However, Vidhatri Urs, a three-time winner in 2024, along with Sneha Singh and Jasmine Shekar, both of whom triumphed twice, will be looking to secure early victories in 2025.

The lineup also features 2023 Order of Merit champion Sneha Singh and Neha Tripathi, who shared fifth place last week, alongside Jasmine Shekar, who finished third in the opening leg, and Durga Nittur, who took fourth.

Amandeep Drall is on a quest to regain the form that led her to the Ladies European Tour, while fellow past champions Seher Atwal and Anvitha Narender are eager to start the season strong. Emerging talents like Khushi Khanijau and Shweta Mansingh, both equipped with valuable experience, could surprise this season. The amateur contingent includes Anaahat Bindra, Mehak Lohan, and Heena Kang.

Rhea Purvi kicked off the 2025 season of the Hero WPGT with an impressive victory in the first leg at the Golmuri Golf Club in Jamshedpur. The 22-year-old golfer from Kolar narrowly defeated amateur Saanvi Somu in the first playoff hole after they both finished tied at 1-under 215 over three days, each scoring 71 on the final day. Rhea's rounds included 72-72-71, while Saanvi, a frequent runner-up, finished with scores of 75-69-71.

Now in her fifth professional season, Rhea resides and trains at Zion Hills, located two hours from Bengaluru. She improved from a tied-eighth finish in the 14th leg of the 2024 HPWGT season.
