Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Noida, March 17 (NationPress) Ridhima Dilawari, Tvesa Malik, and Jasmine Shekar, who collectively have claimed four out of five titles this season on the Women’s Pro Golf Tour (WPGT) 2026, are set to lead a competitive group of 53 players in the sixth leg of the tour, which features a prize pool of Rs. 17 lakh.
Jasmine took victory in the season's first leg, while Ridhima secured wins in the second and fourth legs, and Tvesa celebrated her win in the third.
The event at the Jaypee Wishtown Golf Course will also showcase formidable players such as Amandeep Drall, a past runner-up in the Indian Open, alongside Anvitha Narender, Seher Atwal, Neha Tripathi, Heena Kang, Jahanvi Bakshi, Vidhatri Urs, and Saanvi Somu.
Among the participants, seven amateurs will join the competition. The rise of amateurs has become noteworthy, as they have consistently performed well in recent tournaments. Notably, the previous leg was clinched by amateur Lavanya Gupta, who will not be competing this week. However, defending champion Mahreen Bhatia, who triumphed in the last leg of the 2025 season at the same course, is set to compete.
Other amateurs to keep an eye on include Ceerat Kang, whose sister Heena is a professional player, along with Shambhavi Chaturvedi, Anuradha Chaudhuri, Aradhana Manikandan, Alysha Dutt, and the talented Guntas Kaur Sandhu.
Currently, Ridhima Dilawari leads the Order of Merit, with Jasmine Shekar and Sneha Singh trailing closely behind; however, Sneha will not be participating this week.
Tvesa Malik recently ended a lengthy winless streak that stretched over two years by winning in a playoff against Anvitha Narender at the third leg of the Women’s Pro Golf Tour held at the Oxford Golf Resort. Her last victory prior to that was in September 2023 at DLF Gurugram.
Starting the final day one shot behind Anvitha, Tvesa leveled the score on the fourth hole, where she made a bogey while Anvitha suffered a double bogey. Anvitha then lost further ground with additional bogeys on the sixth and eighth holes, although she managed a birdie on the ninth.
Saanvi Somu led a robust group of new professionals entering the 2026 calendar year. A total of ten new professionals qualified at Jaypee Wishtown, with four coming from the IGU Ladies OOM and WAGR. The WGAI is now home to a record 62 registered pro players, which includes 14 newcomers this year.
