Mumbai, Jan 15 (NationPress) Jasmine Shekar kicked off the new season with an impressive performance, clinching the first leg of the Women’s Pro Golf Tour (WPGT) 2026 at the Bombay Presidency Golf Club on Thursday. The 20-year-old golfer from Bengaluru secured a wire-to-wire victory with a remarkable bogey-free round of 5-under 65, the best score of the week.
With scores of 67-70-65, she finished with a total of 8-under 202, winning by a margin of four strokes over Ridhima Dilawari (67). Jasmine started the tournament with a one-shot lead, increased it to two after two rounds, and ultimately extended it to four by the end of the competition. Notably, she was the only player to finish each of the three rounds at par or better on the Par-70 course.
Jasmine received a winner’s prize of Rs.2.30 lakh from a total purse of Rs.17 lakh. Ridhima earned Rs.1.70 lakh, while Lavanya Jadon, who placed third, walked away with Rs.1.40 lakh.
This victory marks Jasmine’s fourth triumph on the Hero WPG Tour since turning professional in 2023. She won twice in 2024 and once in 2025, starting the 2026 season on a high note. Additionally, she ranked as the third-best female pro on the IGPL league, competing nine times and earning over Rs.14 lakh. Amateur player Zara Anand (69) was ranked third at 1-over 211, having played rounds of 73-69-69.
Lavanya Jadon (72) finished fourth at 2-over 212, while fellow amateur Kashika Misra (71) placed fifth at 5-over 215. Jahanvi Bakshi, on her road to recovery from injury, secured a commendable Tied-sixth position together with Ananya Datar (71).
