Yohaan Benjamin, a Mumbai-born Indian youth international midfielder, has signed a two-year deal with Portuguese club Guarda FC, subject to international clearance and visa formalities. The signing, announced on Thursday, 28 August, marks another milestone in Yohaan's rapidly accelerating European football journey and underlines Guarda FC's stated ambition to build talent pipelines from India, Asia, and other emerging football markets.

From Mumbai Academies to European Football

Yohaan's footballing education began at grassroots level through academies including Conscient Football Mumbai, Football Academy of Bangalore, and Minerva Football Academy. He joined Shillong Lajong in early 2022, where he spent three years progressing through the academy and into senior and reserve setups.

His domestic breakthrough arrived during the 2023–24 AIFF Youth League, where he scored nine goals in 13 matches — a return that earned him a call-up to the India U-19 squad. He subsequently represented India at the 2025 SAFF U-19 Championship.
