AAP Rally at Jantar Mantar: A Stand Against BJP's Vendetta Politics
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, March 1 (NationPress) Saurabh Bharadwaj, the head of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Delhi, declared on Sunday that the party's rally at Jantar Mantar was focused on amplifying the concerns of thousands of contractual workers who have been dismissed and to unveil what he referred to as the “vendetta politics” by the BJP, emphasizing that this gathering is “a rally, not a protest”.
This event marks the first public appearance of AAP's National Convenor, Arvind Kejriwal, since his court discharge related to the liquor policy case.
To ensure safety and crowd management, police personnel were stationed around the location.
Bharadwaj reiterated that this event is “a rally, not a protest”. He stated, “This is a rally, not a protest. Our National Convenor, Arvind Kejriwal, along with Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, our leaders from Goa, and Gujarat, will take the stage. We will voice our concerns for the thousands of young individuals who lost their jobs due to the BJP government's actions—bus marshals, conductors, nurses, and pharmacy staff were all dismissed from Mohalla Clinics.”
He noted that Kejriwal is anticipated to address what the party labels as “false cases and conspiracies” allegedly orchestrated by the BJP against AAP leaders.
Gopal Rai, another AAP leader, stated that this rally signifies a strengthening of the party’s political campaign.
“Delhi has been enduring hardships for over a year. All AAP leaders have been cleared of charges. We will uphold the politics of integrity and intensify our battle for the rights of the people of Delhi,” Rai declared.
The rally has sparked strong reactions from BJP leaders and their allies.
In Patna, Bihar Minister Dilip Kumar Jaiswal remarked that the legal issues surrounding AAP leaders are still pending before the High Court. “An appeal has been filed in the High Court. The full case has not been thoroughly reviewed yet. Therefore, this type of notice has been issued. The High Court will assess it, as it has previously evaluated all related cases. Since the matter remains before the court, there is no need to celebrate excessively at this stage,” he said.
Meanwhile, in Ballia, Uttar Pradesh, MLC Danish Azad Ansari criticized AAP's chief, accusing him of using the rally as a distraction.
“Arvind Kejriwal is resorting to stunts to divert public attention. He has misled the public and betrayed their trust. The citizens are now aware of the true nature of AAP, and they will not fall for their agenda,” Ansari stated.
The rally at Jantar Mantar saw participation from party workers and supporters from Delhi and surrounding states, with Kejriwal likely to outline AAP’s political strategy and address ongoing legal and political challenges.
