New Delhi, June 8 (NationPress) In a scathing critique of the former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) administration, Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Virendra Sachdeva stated on Sunday that approximately 11 years ago, the AAP exploited the tragic Nirbhaya incident for political gain, and since then, party leaders have consistently made political remarks whenever there are crimes against young girls.
Sachdeva pointed out that after the AAP condemned the current BJP-led government in Delhi following the tragic death of a minor girl, who was reportedly raped and found stuffed in a suitcase in a bleeding condition, authorities discovered the suitcase in a flat located in the Nehru Vihar area.
In his statement, Sachdeva emphasized that such atrocious crimes against innocent victims are utterly unacceptable and should never occur.
"Nevertheless, reducing these incidents to mere law and order concerns demonstrates political cunning, as those who commit such crimes not only possess criminal tendencies but also exhibit a deeply distorted mentality," he said.
He added that while the police have historically taken stringent action in most cases, the immediate arrest of the accused in the recent Nehru Vihar incident is crucial, along with the urgent need for social awareness campaigns to educate society against such criminals and instill a fear of consequences among potential offenders.
Sachdeva expressed profound sorrow over the horrific incident.
Further criticizing the AAP, he stated: "The citizens of Delhi wish to pose a question to former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Atishi Marlena regarding this matter. Every year, one or two such horrifying crimes against girls or women are reported. The police apprehend the offenders and ensure they face justice. But Kejriwal and Atishi must explain why their administrations have not initiated a single social awareness campaign in the past 11 years to combat crimes against women?"
"Under their governance, the heads of the Delhi Commission for Women and the Child Rights Commission have been known to comment on issues from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. Yet, they have never launched any concrete campaign to alter the criminal mindset of a perverse segment of society towards girls and women."
